Our lecturer, Ms. Norherizan Binti Abd Moen from the Department of Social Science, was selected by MELTA (Malaysian English Language Teaching Association) and invited to represent MELTA, TAR UMT, and Malaysia as a Featured Speaker at the 30th NELTA International Conference, held on 30–31 January 2026 in Kathmandu, Nepal.

The conference featured 4 Keynote Speeches, 6 Featured Speaker sessions, over 120 research paper presentations in parallel sessions, as well as an Interactive Language Fair and Poster Presentation, bringing together ELT professionals and researchers from across the globe.

In recognition of her role as a Featured Speaker, her conference fee, accommodation, and local transportation were sponsored by MELTA and NELTA.

Her participation contributed Malaysian perspectives to the global ELT community while strengthening TAR UMT’s international academic presence and visibility.

Our lecturer, Ms. Norherizan Binti Abd Moen (Department of Social Science) with her innovation project titled “SEAGameSpeak: A Bilingual Gamified Metaverse for Enhancing English-Speaking Skills in Malaysian and Indonesian Classrooms” has been awarded a Gold Medal.

This is a collaborative project with her team, Mr. Achmad Yudi Wahyudin from Universitas Teknokrat Indonesia, focusing on integrating gamification, AI-driven interaction, and culturally relevant virtual learning spaces to enhance English-speaking proficiency among students, while supporting SDG 4 and SDG 17 through technology-enhanced and cross-border educational practices.
